Straighten Teeth Without Metal Braces
The most common reason adults put off straightening their teeth is not cost or time. It is the idea of walking around with metal brackets at thirty-five or forty-five. Invisalign removes that barrier entirely. The aligners are clear, removable and closely fitting enough that most people around you will not notice them unless you point them out.
Dr. Annie Smith is an Invisalign-certified provider at our North Port office and manages every case herself, from the digital scan that maps your teeth in three dimensions through to your retainers at the end of treatment. Because she is the sole provider here, the dentist monitoring your progress at every check-in is the same one who planned your treatment, and any adjustment needed along the way is made by someone who knows the full picture. Every Invisalign case she oversees is backed by our one-year warranty on the dental work associated with it.

What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a clear aligner orthodontic system that straightens teeth through a series of custom-made removable trays. Each aligner is slightly different from the last, applying gentle, consistent pressure to move specific teeth incrementally toward their planned final position. You wear each set for one to two weeks before moving to the next, and the full series moves your teeth from their current position to the planned result over the course of treatment.
The aligners are made from a smooth, BPA-free thermoplastic material trimmed to the gumline so they sit comfortably and are virtually invisible when worn. They are removed for eating, drinking anything other than water, brushing and flossing, which means no dietary restrictions and no special tools needed to keep your teeth clean during treatment.
Invisalign uses digital technology to plan the full treatment. Before any aligners are made, a three-dimensional scan of your teeth is taken and software maps the complete movement sequence from start to finish. Dr. Smith reviews this plan with you on screen so you can see the projected result before treatment begins.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign works well for most adults and older teenagers with mild to moderate alignment concerns and healthy teeth and gums. A few factors determine whether it is the right choice for your situation.
Good candidates typically have:
- Mild to moderate crowding, spacing, or bite concerns
- Healthy gums with no active periodontal disease
- No significant untreated decay
- The discipline to wear aligners for the recommended 20 to 22 hours a day
- Realistic expectations about treatment length and result
What Invisalign Can Correct
Invisalign has expanded considerably from its early limitations and now addresses a wider range of alignment issues than most patients expect.
Crowding
Teeth that overlap or sit rotated because there is not enough room in the arch for them to align naturally. One of the most common cases and one Invisalign handles well across mild to moderate severity.
Spacing and Gaps
Gaps between teeth from missing teeth, natural spacing or teeth that have drifted apart over time. Invisalign closes them gradually without visible appliances.
Overbite
Where the upper front teeth bite too far over the lower ones vertically. Invisalign can reduce an overbite in many cases, with attachments helping control the movement.
Underbite
Where the lower teeth sit in front of the upper teeth. Mild to moderate cases respond to aligner treatment, while severe underbites may need surgical support.
Crossbite
Where some upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth when biting. Left untreated a crossbite causes uneven wear and can lead to jaw discomfort.
Open bite
Where the upper and lower front teeth do not meet when biting. Common in patients with a history of thumb sucking or tongue thrusting habits.
Dr. Smith assesses your specific case at the consultation and tells you honestly whether Invisalign achieves what you want or whether a different approach gives a more predictable result.
How Invisalign Treatment Works at Wellen Family Dental
Invisalign treatment runs from a few months for simple cases to eighteen months or more for more complex ones. Here is how it runs at our North Port office from your first appointment through to your retainers.
Consultation
Dr. Smith examines your teeth, reviews your bite and discusses what you want to change. She explains whether Invisalign is suitable, gives you a realistic treatment length estimate and answers every question before anything is committed to.
Digital Scan
An intraoral scan maps your teeth in three dimensions. No impressions, no trays full of material. The scan takes a few minutes and the data goes directly to Invisalign's treatment planning software.
Clincheck Treatment Plan
Software generates a full digital treatment plan showing the planned movement sequence from your current alignment to the final result. Dr. Smith reviews this plan, makes any adjustments and then shows it to you on screen so you can see the projected outcome before approving it.
Aligner Fabrication
Once the plan is approved, your full series of aligners is fabricated and delivered to our office, typically within a few weeks.
Fitting Your First Aligners
Dr. Smith fits your first set of aligners and places any attachments needed, which are small tooth colored dots bonded to specific teeth to help the aligners grip and move teeth that need more precise control. She shows you how to insert, remove and care for them.
Progress Check Ins.
You return every six to eight weeks so Dr. Smith can check that your teeth are tracking according to plan, assess the fit of the current aligners and release the next sets. Most of your treatment happens at home, which is part of the convenience.
Refinements If Needed
Occasionally a mid course adjustment is needed if teeth have not moved exactly as planned. A new scan is taken and additional aligners are fabricated to get the result on track.
Retainers
At the end of treatment your teeth are in their new position but the bone around the roots has not fully stabilized. Retainers are fitted immediately and worn consistently, initially full time and then nightly long term, to hold the result. Skipping retainers is the most common reason teeth shift back.
Invisalign Cost, Insurance and Financing in North Port
Invisalign cost varies based on the complexity and length of treatment, and Dr. Smith provides a written estimate at your consultation once she has reviewed your scan and planned the case.
Many dental insurance plans include an orthodontic benefit separate from the annual dental maximum, often covering a lifetime amount toward orthodontic treatment for adults as well as children. Invisalign qualifies as orthodontic treatment under most plans that include an ortho benefit, and our team verifies your specific coverage before your consultation so you have a real figure going in.
For patients managing the cost without insurance coverage:
- Membership plan. Our in-house plan takes 20% off Invisalign treatment, with plans from $33 a month covering preventive care alongside the discount.
- Cherry financing. Monthly payment plans free to apply for, no hard credit check and many plans at 0% interest. Invisalign treatment spread over the course of treatment turns a larger cost into a manageable monthly one.
- CareCredit. Interest free promotional periods on qualifying balances, well suited to longer treatment cases.
- Veteran discount. 10% off for all veterans. Mention it when you schedule and it applies to your estimate from the start.
- Cash discount. 5% off for cash payment.
The entire cost conversation happens in English or Spanish before any aligners are ordered.
